Story-telling Film Family Session | the McCulloughs

During our last visit, I had the opportunity to do a story-telling film family session on Oahu! I first met Emma and Trenton when we were all newlywed babies. Now they’re parents to 4 sweet, active blonde boys. Emma is also an incredibly talented photographer, working with brands and families on island!

I often say that my goal when capturing families in their homes is to find their Signs of Life. Little bits and moments that define their dynamic and reveal the magic in every day events. When we’re always in the middle of our own special, signature family chaos, it can be easy to take certain things for granted. We’re doing it all in a choreographed dance we know by heart – wiping tears and noses, singing songs, changing diapers, hugs and kisses for Big Feelings, nap time, lunch time, on-the-go snack time, late dinners, scolding, life lessons, scraped knees, snuggles, bedtime, and then doing it all over again the next day. What a glorious, exhausting phase of life! It’s a dream sitting front row for it all.

The Photo Lowdown!

This session was shot on a mix of film and digital. Film stock was Portra 800 120 and Portra 400 120 shot on a Pentax 645nii, and Portra 400 35mm shot on an EOS-3. As always, my friends at The Find Lab developed and scanned all my film to perfection!
