Shawna and Walter planned their day EXACTLY how they wanted it. One thing that really took the pressure off was that they had actually gotten secretly married a few months before! Just them two and an officiant. I love that!!
Their wedding day was simple, sweet, and intimate, held in the backyard of a close family member and totally focused on their relationship and families. Shawna was barefoot all day, with flowers in her hair, and got ready with her girlfriends and sister surrounding her, not a care in the world. They served Mexican food for dinner and cut delicious sheet cakes for dessert. Both Shawna and Walter are professional acrobats and dancers (they’re insanely fit and graceful, it’s mind-blowing) so when the sun went down, they did a tandem aerial hoop performance for us. To me, it was so beautiful and fluid and, of course, afterward they told me that they had thrown it together earlier that day. I can’t imagine what it would have looked like if they had rehearsed and planned it longer?!
These two were magic and their love for each other was woven throughout the entire day. They skipped the traditions that didn’t speak to them and added ones that mattered most. Why have a wedding any other way?
