Ari and Nick’s love story inspires me so, so much! Nick is in the Navy meaning that these two lovebirds have had to endure loooong stretches of separation. We set the date for their New Mexico wedding, but shortly after, they asked me to meet them in San Diego for a session. It turned out that when Nick had come back from an especially long separation, the two had decided to get married before their wedding and were honeymooning in California before he had to leave again. FRICKIN’ ROMANTIC RIGHT?! Also, I must add that it’s a favorite thing of mine to shoot with a wedding couple before the big day because then we’re already BFFs when we see each other again. When I got to New Mexico for their actual wedding, it felt like meeting up with old friends.
Everything about their big day revolved around their love for each other and their love for God. Seeing such devotion between two people so young is truly beautiful. The loving pastor prayed with both of them separately, blessing their marriage and urging their family and friends to support them in the years to come. It had been stiflingly hot the entire day (like at least 100 degrees with full New Mexico desert sun in the middle of summer kind of hot) and right as the whole party lined up to make the long walk to the outdoor ceremony, a giant cloud covered the sun. The whole party started cheering and revealed they had said a group prayer that morning that there would be some kind of shade during the ceremony so everyone wouldn’t be melting haha! Ari and Nick had waited all day to finally see each other and watching him hold back tears as he saw his gorgeous bride was such a special moment. She walked down the aisle to Resolution by Matt Corby and they exited their ceremony as husband and wife to Sunday Candy by Chance the Rapper. My kinda people!!
After dancing through the night, me, the whole bridal party and their family loaded into a caravan of cars to go to Frontier in Albuquerque for midnight cinnamon rolls and a champagne spray! I absolutely adore these two and it was such an honor to be a part of their gorgeous day!
