I will forever be grateful for couples that are 1. down to go out of the way to make photo-making an experience and 2. put their trust in me to create something unique for them.
While Tabetha and I talked about formals, I was so excited when she said she wanted to set aside a separate day before the wedding and go somewhere unique to take them. Then she asked me if there was anywhere that I had been dying to shoot. Like…me?! I’m still humbled at the trust that she put in me. We brainstormed a few locations where we could capture the unique vibe they wanted and ultimately decided to drive out into the desert to the RAD art installation Salvation Mountain and then finish the session at the Imperial Sand Dunes. These locations inspired me like crazy and pushed me to embrace the harsh desert lighting with more editorial posing and grainy, filmy editing.
It was HOT (like 107 degrees HOT) and we were so sweaty, but it was oh so worth it. Together, we made some of my favorite formals! I love them so much that I had to give them their own special blog post.
